Here's your one and only lesson on politics, Zack:

Tories = Bad; fascist; slimy; underhanded; untrustworthy.

Lib Dems = Nice; Liberal; honest; sensible

Labour = Meh; acceptable; not as bad as the Tories make out; not as Left as Lib Dems

UKIP = Hates Europe; has Kilroy

Green Party = Hippies with clipboards

So I think the obvious choice is Lib Dem.

I want to moan about ross saying that is my "one and only" lesson, as it is extremely biased.... and it doesn't tell me any specifics

Okay, seriously then:

Labour: Not sure what they're going to do actually. Keep things the same, I suppose.

Lib Dem: Increase income tax on high incomes and increase public spending. Abolish university fees etc. Abolish council tax.

Tories: Lower taxes and lower public spending. Create interest on university fee loans. Introduce immigration quota.

UKIP: Pull out of the EU. Control immigration (I think).

Green: Raise taxes on pollution; get Britain environmentally friendly

That's not great detail, but you get the idea.

They will, because it's a major part of their manifesto. If they didn't they'd get booted out next time. Plus the Lib Dems don't just say things to get into power. They're honest, which is one of the reasons they aren't in power now. People vote for parties who say what they want to hear (as in lower income tax, which the Lib Dems openly say they won't do).

Actually the liberal democrats say they have detailed plans to reach 0.7 percent of the national income by 2011 at the latest.

altho, I have to agree, they do seem a very honest party. And I expect they would abolish university fees if they were elected. Perhaps honest is better, but they're basically telling us they're not gonna try and do loads to improve the country. They don't even have views on some important things, like stem-cell research, or Euthanasia.

I'm torn between UKIP and Lib Dems at the moment. They have similar views to Lib Dems but with subtle differences.

If I didn't know that Tony Blair was a liar, and Michael Howard was a wanker... I'd probably go for Labour or Conservatives. Their views seem to stronger.

a) How do you mean 'reach it'?

b) No, the opposite. They're saying that they will increase taxes so that they can spend more on public services. Which is the opposite to what Labout and the Conservatives are saying.

c) Of course they have views, they just didn't feature in their campaign or manifesto because those topics aren't in the public eye at the moment. Plus they don't get as much news coverage as the other two parties, so their minor views aren't as well known.

d) In what ways are they similar? The Lib Dems are Pro-Europe and the whole reason UKIP was created was as an anti-EU party.

e) No one really knows if Tony Blair is a liar or not. Although I agree that there hardly seem to have been any WMDs in Iraq, it is possible (but unlikely) that they were shipped to a friendly country. Plus, we don't really know what intelligence Blair got about Iraq - he could have just made a royal cock-up, rather than have deliberately been lying.

But since you're generally agreeing with me, I'll leave you alone.

You're probably mostly right there, but I was just reading a table thing of all their views on different things, and Liberal democrats say on a few "This is a free vote issue for individual MPs to decide on"

Anywho... Labour won, so it doesn't matter now

There is a reason for that. When Parliament votes on such ethical issues, politicians are given a free vote because those issues are across party lines (i.e. not party politics). So it won't be in the main parties' manifestos
